Rascal the Ratter

Rascal caught another rat
A BIG BIG Rat it was
He found it in the chicken house
That's just what Rascal does

I still say Rascal is the favorite.

That's ok...If you have to catch rats to get that kind of special attention...................he can have it!

Weekend Shower at Audrey's House But No Rain!

Not what I was expecting.....not at all. I discovered that one doesn't really get wet at a baby "shower". I really have to say....these people really have some strange names for some of their traditions and celebrations.
 I can't say that I was really looking forward to getting wet, anyway......and everyone knows that I don't have B O......do I?
Got to see Audrey's house and meet her good friend Nikki. Turns out that Nikki is a big follower of this blog about my life. Way to go Nikki! You have really good taste in blogs!
Sad thing was.....I wasn't offered any cake. Two and a half hours riding on the floor in the back seat of the truck between Rascal and Dixie, who were in kennels, and they didn't even offer me any cake!

The funniest thing I saw while at Audrey's was Sookie wearing a bow with some ribbon from one of the gifts.  Couldn't they see it was way too heavy for her?!

Turtle Trouble

Rascal discovered a turtle coming through the yard.  Leave it up to Rascal to find another critter.

Dixie and I were not that impressed........
Smelled a little like old bath water to me....

Rascal on the other hand....... was very interested.............

Inks Lake "Squirrel Camp"

Rascal enjoys the camping experience much more than me....but then he would. He is all about the great outdoors.

Here..... Rascal stops from chasing ducks long enuff (rhymes with ruff) to catch the sunset across the lake.

Squirrels are everywhere here at Inks Lake State Park and are a constant torment for Rascal. The squirrels here at the park have lots of experience with pushing the envelope around the dogs in the campground...... They can sure push Rascal's buttons.

These wily squirrels know how to stay just out of Rascal's reach. Pa tried to give him as much extra leash as possible.....but the squirrels were just too fast.

Rascal begged and begged to be turned loose on the wily squirrels of Inks Lake State Park. I think Pa wanted to see him catch one, but it was not to be. Maybe some day when the park is not so crowded Rascal will get his wish.

Oh how Rascal longs for that time to come.

The day when he can run free of the leash and catch the squirrels of Inks Lake State Park

Inks Lake Camp Dog

All right.....I finnally get to see what it's all about. The peeps loaded us all up and we headed up to Inks Lake State Park for a weekend of camping. Guess they forgot to leave me behind.......As I look around me I gotta say.......not too bad. Nice change of pace.
Lots to do here.....swim......walk around .....smell stuff cookin outside......chase ducks......play on the playground.......bark at people walking by our camp site....bark at other dogs. Yeah....lots of fun stuff.....so I'm told, anyway.
We'll see....................................

Yep We'll See.............
If ya'll have been keeping up with my adventures you probably already know......

I'm not that into a lot of extra curricular activities.

Whoa!.....Are you Kidding Me?!...........................SEE SAW?!........

Stop!.....Stop!  I'm getting DIZZY!

No thanks.......I had a bath this month already anyway.............Besides........there's no telling what else is in that water!  I saw the ducks.....

Ok.........I've seen enuff (rhymes w/ruff).......time for a nap
Hey ....how bout a snack........a hot dog maybe?

Instinct ....Stinks

Well..something really weird happened to me today. I went outside to do my thing. I was going through the usual motions...you know....looking for my special spot...... seems it moves around a lot.....my special spot.......... Anyway....while I was looking I caught a wiff of something wild. Turns out it was that darn squirrel that Rascal is always trying to catch. I couldn't resist it! Wow! I guess I do remember chasing a few squirrels at the old place, now that I get to thinking about it....I believe I caught one once!.....Course I was a lot younger and a few pounds lighter.
Yeah .....I think it's something called instinct........You know that I would never try to catch a squirrel if it was up to me. You gotta know that!.....Right?!

Where is Rascal anyway?!  He's the one that's supposed to be chasing the squirrels!....I'm not supposed to be trying to climb trees and chase squirrels! .......I don't even like squirrels!....This is no fun at all! ..........I could really do without this thing called instinct!
Hey Rascal!....Where is that crazy mutt?
If he hurries maybe we can tag team this tree rat!

Feed Me....FEED...ME!

Hey!..........Can we get a little food over here?
If I had one of those opposable thumb thing-a-ma-jigs I'd get it myself!.........Jeeezzzzzz how I hate waiting on these peeps to open that food container! .....I can eat more than a couple times a day ya know!

Yeah.....That's what I'm talkin bout!

All righty now........

Hey Pa,
Could you bring that pee pad over here?

Yeah....and just put my pillow there on the other side.

Snake Farm....Uuuggghhhhh.....Uuuggghhhhh.........

Yep............Another snake!......It was another "good" snake (hog nose/spreading adder) so Pa caught it and hauled it down the road about a mile and turned it loose. Gram has started to call the place Snake Farm........after the Ray Wylie Hubbard song.................... with that said, I thought y'all might enjoy a little entertainment....

Yet Another Reason..... Not To "Go" Outside

I do not understand the obsession these people have with the need to "go" outside.
It's not safe outside!
This afternoon I was once again coerced into a trip out beyond the confines of my sweet abode.
You guessed it!.....Had to find a place to "go"!
Just when I thought that I had found that special place........... I found something else instead!

Seems that Mother Nature decided it was supper time for this HUGE garter snake and frog was on the menu.

I'm thinking.................................THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE PEE PADS!!!!!!!!

Can't I "GO" in the house?.......PLEASE?????

Coon Dog and Pee Pad Philosophy

Here Rascal surveys the scene of the Coon fight this past Weds morning, and once again thanks his lucky stars that the Mrs (Gram) saved his bohiney from that bodacious bandit. .........In this picture you are able to see where Gram scattered scrap metal and the canoe in order to save Rascal from being mauled by Ole Mr Coon.
Yesterday, Saturday morning, Rascal found another raccoon in the same area. This coon was a young one that looked as if it had been hit by a car out on the highway during the night. Of course Rascal felt like he didn't need any help, but the big guy (Pa) stepped in and helped bring about a swift end to the the raccoon's suffering.
Rascal doesn't understand that he's just not big enuff (rhymes w/ruff) to be fighting raccoons on a regular basis.

Hey! ...There's a SNAKE over here!....shouldn't somebody be watching me?
Am I too close?....Whoooooaaaa It just stuck it's tongue out at me!
hhheeeeelllllLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I had myself an encounter with one of the many varmints that seem to call this yard home. One of those spreading adders (hog nose ) snakes was up on the back porch. Rascal has had some up close encounters with these guys, but he usually goes looking for them. I was just heading outside to find a nice quite place to pee and this guy scares the bejeebers outta me. .....Pa and Gram carefully placed it in a bucket and relocated it several hundred yards behind the house. I wanted it boxed up and mailed to someplace like Cuba....but Pa said it was a "good" snake............whatever that is.

Just another good argument for my pee pad philosophy
What am I doing out here anyway?
There are perfectly good pee pads in the house just waiting for a little dog like me
